My friend and I hadn’t planned this 3 day trek but in the end it was without a doubt the highlight of our trip to Indonesia. Everyone stayed a night at Restu by view in Senaru before getting into smaller groups in the morning and meeting your guide. Jamal is truly unbelievable. This trek is tough and don’t expect anything less but our leader was so motivational, his English is incredible and he loves the mountain with his heart and soul. The porters are also outstanding, seemingly super human the way they run up the mountains with such ease. It’s such a spectacular place; you’ll never forget this experience.

I did the 3days hike on Rinjani with Reza. It was an amazing experience, the day before I got a guide to see the waterfalls. The hike itself was a bit hard but totally worth it. The food was amazing and I could never do this without my guide, Andy, and porter, Mur, who took both good care of me!

Trekking Mt. Rinjani is an essential part of a trip to Lombok. The unimaginably stunning scenery and views; the friendly and constantly entertaining guides and porters definitely make the exhausting (or rewarding…?) ascent worthwhile! Jamal is a fantastic, accommodating and all round inspiring guide. He is not lying when he says Rinjani is his house… he is the perfect man to lead you on a trek you will never forget.
